Hiya! DP2 has already started for most of you, and what's better than starting the year with complex numbers! (but seriously, if your teacher kicks off the year with complex... it's gonna be a bumpy ride.)    On this test, you'll be tested on the usual - operations with complex numbers, Argand diagram, solving equations in the complex set and finally using de Moivre's theorem to prove stuff. [AAHL] Complex Numbers (Unit Test v2.3)

Complex numbers is, frankly, quite complex at times. This is arguably one of the hardest topics in the course, so I'd like to expose you to a wide range of questions that may seem challenging at first but they're all within your reach. Enjoy! AAHL: AAHL MS: A couple announcements. (1) We're in the last phase of writing the mocks before the papers are shipped to RShields for proofreading. Details to come, but mark your calendars: the mocks will (probably) take place in early/mid-April, allowing sufficient time to actually mark the submitted scripts and provide feedback on the performance. (2) Be on the lookout for revision sessions on the IB server: as usual, I'll be doing a session on trigonometry. Might split it into two to improve students' attention, idk. It may or may not be recorded. (3) Tutoring slots are still available if you're looking for focused practice before the exams. DM me if you're interested and I'd love to discuss the details with you....

[AAHL] Complex Numbers [Unit Test v2]

Hey there DP2s! For many of you school’s about to start in a week or two. If you have taken a fair mathematical sabbatical, perhaps this is time to prepare yourself for the new school year. I’m not a fan of studying from dawn till dusk every day, but the more work you could do now the more your future self will thank you when January hits.   Today we’ll be back with complex numbers. Similar to integration, complex numbers are not conceptually demanding but rather seasoned question writers love to weave other parts of the curriculum – trigonometric relationships, vectors, integration, you name it. Enjoy the complexity of your complex numbers!

[AAHL] Revision Guide: Topic 1.6 and the entire booklet

Hi. Yes. Another month or two flew by before I could release this last bit of topic 1 - complex numbers. As mentioned in the document, I didn't include simple examples because y'all should be able to do them by the time you read this document. Don't be shocked that I didn't start with "adding complex numbers in Cartesian form". There are certainly one or two questions like that in the practice section if you do need a brief recap. Unsurprisingly these booklets take a WHILE to write, so I don't think I can finish the entire course this year. Will try to chuck out topic 2 and 5 though, alongside the mocks and the spreadsheet of topics I mentioned last time. Enjoy the summer, everyone not in Aus/NZ! :D I'll see y'all again soon! c: Andrew

[AAHL] Complex numbers

Hi there kiddos! I hope everyone's doing well. The last week was BRUTAL - didn't know how I survived that. That being said, the less time I have to do work, the more willing I am to procrastinate, so I'm glad to report that I finally end the probability streak and move on to everyone's dreaded favourite topic - complex numbers. For AAHL, it is vital  that you know how to work with complex numbers and relate it to other topics such as trigonometric functions, calculus and vectors. AAHL AAHL Answers Good luck y'all.
