[AIHL][AASL][AAHL] Calculus - Part 2 - Further differentiation rules

Hewwo! DP2 has already started for most of you and lots of you are probably on prob/stats or integration.  I figured this is the perfect time to post about... further differentiation rules, because everyone loves a refresher on stuff they hate the most (but also very important). This material was written with a CEGEP/U0 student in mind, so the calculus standards would be a lot higher than AASL or even AIHL. Since I'm making this for a student I'm tutoring atm, I think it would be useful to y'all as well. If you plan to pursue a degree in physical sciences or engineering, this is the level of calculus that would normally be taught in most calculus 1 courses in North America. Content  - chain rule, product rule, quotient rule, derivatives of sinusoidal, exponential and logarithmic functions. (AASL and AIHL students: you are not responsible for the derivative of cot(x), csc(x), sec(x), a^x and log_a(x).) Structure  - example-problem pairs with practice questions mostly taken f

[Revision Quizzes] Quiz C

Hi y'all. Welcome back to our all-time favourite series, Revision Quizzes. Today we'll have Quiz C, the third quiz of this season. These questions will force ya to use your heads a bit more than simply going through the motions, I promise. Without any further ado, here it is! Source:  AdventurousAndrew#7499, unless otherwise indicated. Gentle reminder that the mock exams for the N21 series will take place this weekend , October 2nd and 3rd. Mark your calendars! Before next time, peace! Andrew

[Revision Quizzes] Quiz B

It's Monday and we all know it's time for our favourite series, Revision Quizzes. We're at Quiz 2 out of 6 (y'all are a third through this pain already, be grateful) for the AA kiddos this time around. I'll repeat the rules of the game for the ones at the back. - 7 questions, 50 minutes. - Calculator use is clearly indicated on the quiz. - No notes allowed. - Go hard or go home - these questions aren't designed for the weak. Ready. Get set. Go. NB:  cot(x) = 1/tan(x), it's HL content but SL people has enough info to get the answer. May the odds be ever in your favour. Oop, should've kept that for the mock. [Revision Quizzes] Quiz A

Hey y'all! Starting today, I'll have a mini-series of blogposts on Revision Quizzes  (ta-da!) A quiz will be posted every Monday and Thursday for the next 3 weeks to help N21s revising for their exams. Each quiz should take about 50 minutes to complete if you really know your stuff .  Together these quizzes will cover all the topics of the course. Why revision quizzes? Questions are not  organised by topics. This is intentional - the distinction between a 5 and a 7 lies in your ability to recognise what the question is asking and what do you need to do to get there. Answers, not solutions, are provided. These are written in the same style as Section A, albeit a bit long. A section B-style question is simply many section A questions put together, ideally with a significant link between the parts. You are advised to spend no more than 7 minutes  on each question. Some are easy, some are hard. Some are shorter, some are longer. I've tried to keep them quite similar in length.

[Mocks] Collection of mock exams

Hello hoomans, Are y'all looking for more IB practice papers  after you've exhausted a large collection of past papers you could get your hands on? Do you want to try papers that are (generally) above and beyond what you'd expect on the actual exam?  I've uploaded all the goodies I've ever written for my own mock server (at  http://discord.gg/SHBFEAf39Y ) for the last two exam sessions. Note that Nov 2020 was the last sitting of the old syllabi but you'll find most of the questions very useful for the current courses. Papers will eventually be added to the Google Drive after each mock session. Just in case you're new to the website or you haven't had time to take the mocks, here are some reasons why you should try the papers out. Challenging If you talk to people who have tried my mock before, it isn't uncommon to see people reporting that they've lost a couple brain cells.  I'm known to be a hard exam writer so this isn't news to me, but

[Announcements] Sept 14th, 2021

Hi y'all. I haven't been posting here often for a while. Many things are happening at once: - mocks need to be written (AA done, AI in progress) - uni already started so I'm trying to find work-life balance - I'm running out of the tests I've written and I need to find time to write a couple tests with their markschemes. I can't promise I'll go back to the same posting frequency as before, but you'll still hear from me from various sources. (1) For those in the IB Discord server, there's a very high chance I'll lead a trig session. (2) Mocks: dates to be determined, as I'll have to write the papers with their MS then go over them with an examiner.  Some of you already know who I'm referring to. c: (3) Quickies  will be posted every Monday and Thursday. They're basically question sets that are intended to be done in 50 minutes. I try very best to space the practice out, so if you're able to do the set the day I post them that'd

[AASL][AAHL] Tuesday Tests: Trigonometric identities

Welcome back to Tuesday Tests. Here we are, one of the topics that blocks many of you from getting a 7 at SL or HL: trigonometric equations, inequalities and identities. I have a bias for this topic (those of you who have taken my mocks know precisely what I mean) and my questions tend to be on the harder side than what you'd get on your exam paper. It's always a good thing right? :3 This set of tests serves as a continuation of the Trigonometry tests series. Enjoy while it lasts! Announcements - I might not  have time to write and upload a set of tests next week. Uni's started and I don't have access to my PC when I'm on campus. - MOCKS! This will take up a decent chunk of the break between lectures I have during the next couple weeks. But hey, this is what I love doing. :D With that out of the way, here are our tests. [AISL][AIHL] Tuesday Tests: Trigonometric Relationships

First off, sorry y'all for changing Tuesday Tests  into Thursday Tests. At least there's still alliteration so not all is lost. This week we'll have Trig Relationships for AISL and AIHL. Despite the name, we also cover trig functions (in AISL) and Voronoi diagrams (for both courses). Usual T&Cs apply - y'all probably familiar with this by now.
