Hiya! The prob and stats section on the website has been a little lacking - let's change that! I lumped binomial expansion with counting and binomial distribution because they all require the use of combinations. Also made a great acronym... particularly when you're solving counting problems.  Please note that the  HL  test runs for 90 minutes (first 45 mins without calculator, remaining 45 mins with calculator). SL students can use a calculator for all questions. [AASL][AAHL] Binomial and distributions / Binomial, counting and distributions

Hiya! The latest set of unit tests is out - binomial, counting and distributions for HL and binomial & distributions for SL. This combination covers all things combination - after all, binomial distribution is also a combination exercise. For HL, the test has four sections and lasts 90 minutes. Calculators may not be used in the first 45 minutes. There's a question on using binomial expansion on trinomials, a question on making seating plans and a question on coffee. For SL, the test lasts an hour and students may use technology for the entire test.  If you're looking for more personalised support, don't hesitate to reach out and complete the form ! Hey y'all. For the last few days, I've seen some students struggling with conditional probability on the IB server. This isn't news or anything; conditional probabilities are usually poorly done overall, especially the SL folks. This post summarises what commonly show up on examiners' reports and how you can avoid it. The concept of probability in IB is ENORMOUS, so I'll just focus on basic probability and combined probability. A solid foundation in this would ensure a good shot at solving the more complex, massive-tree-diagram-wordy-thingy questions. Basics of probability (1) giving answers which were greater than 1 You've probably heard of this statement 283187 times, but it's surprising the number of students who "innocently" report a probability of 2.0 due to a calculation error when dealing with decimals. [AASL][AAHL] Further probability and probability distribution

Hi there kiddos! I'm finally bacc with the second test in probability and probability distributions.  The test is kinda long but you do have enough time if you remain calm and work through the questions at a reasonable pace. As always, the versions are very similar, but the AAHL will have questions on continuous random variables. Over the winter break, I'm planning to write a module on trigonometry. It seems to me that trigonometry is not usually taught well in school, so this is my attempt to make your trigonometry experience a bit better. End of story time. [AASL][AAHL] Statistics and introduction to probability

Bienvenue à "Tuesday Tests". Hello hoomans.  Firstly, congrats to all N21 who just took their maths exams (P1/2) yesterday. I hope y'all get the results that reflect your performance on the exam - end of the day, that's what IB should  be trying to do anyway. If you aren't satisfied with the papers, remember that nothing is set in stone until all the papers are marked and the grade boundaries are decided. I've heard that the exams are slightly harder than the old syllabus, and the grade boundaries should partially reflect that. If you've done everything to the best of your ability, prior to and on the day of the exam, cut yourself some slack (I know this is difficult because I suffer from it as well), focus on the remaining exams and wait until the results day. Secondly, welcome back to Tuesday Tests. I know these tests wouldn't be beneficial to N21 students because they cover the basics of statistics and probability which y'all have already master...
